Who we are
Salivate (“we”, “us”) is a recipe, pantry, and grocery app operated by [YOUR NAME / COMPANY].
What we collect
- Account info: your email address and display name (via Firebase Authentication), and a chosen @username. Your email is used for sign-in and is not shown on your public profile.
- Content you create: pantry items, saved/created recipes, cookbooks, grocery lists, notes, ratings, comments, and (if you opt in) a cloud backup of your library.
- Social data: friends, messages, and notifications you send or receive in the app.
- Photos you provide: images you scan (pantry, recipes, receipts) or upload to recipes. Scanned images are sent to our AI provider to extract text/items; uploaded recipe photos are stored in Firebase Storage.
- Usage/diagnostics: basic app analytics and crash/error logs to keep the app working.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
How we use it
To provide and improve the app’s features: recipe search and matching, pantry and grocery management, cooking education, gamification (XP/levels), and social features. We do not sell your personal information.
Third-party services we share data with
We use these providers, each under their own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Storage, Cloud Functions) — account and app data.
- Google Gemini AI — text/images you scan or generate recipes from.
- Recipe & data APIs — Edamam and Spoonacular (recipe data), USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts (nutrition), Unsplash (stock food photos). Recipe searches send your query terms to these services.
- We do not send them your email, password, or friends list.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account and data any time in the app: Profile → Delete Account. This removes your account, profile, @username, friends links, and cloud backup. (Recipes you shared to the public community may be retained or anonymized — contact us to request full removal.)
- Export/back up your library via the in-app Cloud Backup.
- Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR/CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data — contact us at [YOUR SUPPORT EMAIL].
Data retention & security
We keep your data while your account is active. Data is stored on Google Firebase and protected by security rules and encryption in transit. No system is 100% secure.
